Getting there

1 Km from Mount Lavinia town and 13 Km from Colombo, the Mount Lavinia Hotel is located on a stunning promontory overlooking the Indian Ocean. Atmosphere

This mansion once the abode of British Governors, is steeped in romantic legend. The mansion, with its white columns, polished wooden floors, intricately- carved wood ceilings and wide windows open to the ocean breezes, is still popular for lovers.

The Mount Lavinia Hotel, still retains the old world charm and imperial elegance of yesteryear combined with the most up to date facilities of a modern resort.

With extensive beach frontage, a Tropical Bar on the beach, four Restaurants (including a superb seafood restaurant) and a terrace bar, you will have a good choice of quality food and drink. The swimming pool and Ayurveda Centre are ideal places relax and enjoy yourself.

Rooms and facilities

The 275 rooms, all with sea view and Private balcony, are spread around three main wings.

The "Bay Wing" of the hotel has 100 rooms offering every possible modern amenity while maintaining the ambience that the Mount Lavinia Hotel is famous for. Attached toilets with bath tub, hair dryer, 24 hour satellite TV, telephone with IDD and a well stocked mini bar.

The recently refurbished Sea and Garden Wing presents yet another delightful aspect of the hotel with it's rooms leading out into spacious gardens which overlook the sea, presenting a direct view of the city of Colombo with satellite TV, telephone with IDD and mini bar.

The colonial architecture of what was once the original residence of Sir Thomas Maitland and Sir Edward Barnes is today known as the "Governor's Wing" consisting of 40 spacious rooms with wooden floors and large windows that open wide to let in the soft sea breeze. The "Governor's Suite" built on two levels and furnished in old colonial style, is the epitome of old world luxury.

Things to see and do

Colombo is full of places to see. It is the largest city and the hub of action in the country. It is easy to visit most of what it has to offer in a day two. Take a walk in the Galle Face Green or the Viharamahadevi Park. Visit the National Museum or the many churches, temples and kovils. Shop at Odel, Paradise Road, Barefoot etc or visit Pettah bazaar buzzing with street vendors and little shops selling everything and anything you could imagine.
