Mount Lavinia House
Mount Lavinia House is a recently built British owned Sri Lankan managed, elegant, homely all suite boutique hotel, located in the quiet suburb of Mount Lavinia, a few metres from the famous Mount Lavinia beach. What's more Mount Lavinia is less than 10 km South of Colombo , within easy reach of the Colombo city centre and the main airport to the North.
The exquisitely designed hotel has many artistic and architecturally interesting features. It consists of themed bedrooms which are super-kingsize with large comfy beds, with beautiful fresh linen, light and airy and can be ventilated naturally or cooled using state of the art AC. The ensuite bathrooms have high quality ‘European standard' toilets, baths or showers and bidets.
You can choose from the Master suite, the Palm room, the Peacock room or the Lion room. If you're a bit more daring, you can choose the Fantasy suite, featuring the large round bed and jungle bathroom on the top deck. Some of the rooms are with top sea view while others have garden views. If you prefer total seclusion amidst picturesque views, you may reserve the Fantasy suite with the entire large Top deck with full sea view for an extra cost
The lovely walled palm fringed garden bursting with seasonal fruits, vegetables and nuts, the spectacular indoor/outdoor Lagoon Swimming Pool that begins inside the house and ending up in the middle of the garden, and the magnificent Top Deck, with its casual soft furnishings and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, are all designed with your comfort and relaxation in mind.
It has a large and spacious delicately furnished sitting room and dining area with a well equipped Pantry and Kitchen. The Room rates are usually on Single or Double basis with American breakfast or local dishes on request. A highly personalized and friendly service is part of the main concept.The hotel also conducts local cookery demos on request. It does not have a Bar but certain liquor and beverages could be made available on request.
Things to see and do
You can choose to simply relax in the private garden or Top deck, with its panoramic view of the Indian Ocean , read a book, sip a cool drink or just watch in awe the sun turn into a fiery orange ball before slipping below the horizon.
You may relax on the Mount Lavinia beach, with its rustic beach huts, cabanas, and a host of nearby Beach restaurants serving Western and Sri Lankan cuisine.
Mt Lavina is a happy mix of hotels, restaurants and local residencies, dotted alongside a stunning beach. The atmospheric Galle Road is an easy stroll away, offering local shops and street markets alongside modern supermarkets and restaurants.
City tours to Colombo and Day tours to Kandy and Galle could be arranged for a modest fee on request.
A train journey from Mt Lavinia to Colombo or Bentota, along the coastal line from the nearby Mt Lavinia Railway station will provide a glimpse of the local life.
