Colombo House
Getting there
Located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo House is a luxurious villa, hidden away from the city noise and busy streets of Colombo. It is in the heart of the residential area in Colombo and provides a soothing haven after a long and tiring city tour. You can spend the day touring in the dusty streets of Colombo knowing that there is a tranquil getaway to unwind and relax.
Atmosphere
The colonial mansion dating back to the British colonial regime is stylishly decorated with a mixture of contemporary and antique furnishings and artifacts. It carries all the modern sophistication but yet reminds you of a by-gone era of high roof ceilings and heavy wooden furnishings. The atmosphere of the place is difficult to describe as every part of the villa has its own unique character. You can be sure there is place for you to relax at the Colombo House, whatever your mood.
Rooms and facilities
The Villa has three rooms for guests all with air-conditioning and attached bathrooms. The two large rooms upstairs; the ‘Pink room' and the ‘black and white room' are especially noteworthy. They are spacious and elegant and contain all modern comforts. The rooms simply take you to a time and place of creativity. The interiors of the room vary from one-another. Each room has its own unique character and tells you a story different from the other. The attached baths upstairs are simply luxurious although the one downstairs is not as equally large.
Dining and common areas
The sitting area upstairs with its white ceiling and white washed walls is a relaxing and open place to sip your morning tea and bury your head in the newspaper. The equally relaxing outdoor pavilion set in the courtyard is a great place to sip an afternoon drink or entertain your friends.
The modern library beautifully furnished and decorated with artifacts is another spot for you to simply unwind.
Dining will be in the beautiful and open dining area adjoining the equally beautiful and modern pantry. You can select your meals from a three-course menu and it will be prepared and served by Mary and Jerome.
Things to see and do
Colombo is full of places to see. It is the largest city and the hub of action in the country. It is easy to visit most of what it has to offer in a day two. Take a walk in the Galle Face Green or the Viharamahadevi Park. Visit the National Museum or the many churches,
temples and kovils. Shop at our exclusive shops; Odel, Paradise Road, Barefoot etc or maybe visit Pettah and be shocked with street vendors and little shops selling everything and anything you could imagine.
